Ok heres my answer to the question I posted up on Face book:
“What are the 3 disciplines (e.g activities and/or sports) that are important for girls to learn before the age of 10yrs old?
From my years of experience coaching tennis and seeing many different levels & abilities of girls one thing really stood out for me…
When girls start the following 3 disciplines I have experienced their ability to listen, learn and have self confidence has developed faster than children who have not been exposed to these activities.
1. Gymnastics – it gives girls balance, core strength, muscle strength, control of their body with movement, and an awareness of their body in space.
2. Tennis – Hand -eye coordination, movement, agility, increased perception, increases reactions and an ability to respond to a situation spontaneously.
3. Musical instrument …? Yes! this establishes a different kind of discipline, its not a physical activity but develops other areas like a sense of timing and rhythm, listening to different tones , It stimulates the mind and hearing senses. You can check this link below or do your own research.

This is a fascinating area of a young girls development and provides a strong foundation for them in their future.
I will interview a few experts in this area who can shine further light on this subject.
I love finding faster and more productive ways of learning tennis and to have a foundation based on these 3 areas will be a winning start for any young girls life.
